Pohl joined the MEANYC Executive Board in September 2017 as Secretary currently holds the position of Middle School Festival Chair, and looks forward to further enhancing the opportunities of music educators in New York City. Pohl spends her summers helping students prepare for their high school audition experience as the Woodwind coach of the Middle School Arts Boot Camp in collaboration with the Lincoln Center Education Department. She has been a conductor in the Salute to Music Program for ten years and has held the title of Center Director of Brooklyn for the latter six years. She was Lead Facilitator of the District 22 Ambassadors program, hosting a district-wide music ensemble with an end of year performance each spring.
While at Marine Park, Pohl hosted the Spring NYSSMA Music Festival each May, was an Arts Monday facilitator, and a member of the Facilitators Team of educators who lead Citywide Professional Development Music Workshops collaborating with the Director of Music in New York City. Murrow High School. Her students have performed at the Music in the Parks Festival in Pennsylvania, Festival Disney in Florida, and on the iconic stage of Carnegie Hall. She is an accomplished band director who taught for many years at Marine Park Intermediate School 278, in Brooklyn, and is now the Assistant Principal of Music at Edward R. In 2005, she graduated from Wagner College in Staten Island with a Bachelor's degree in music education and, in 2008, from Brooklyn College with a Master's degree. Letters of acceptance for the Intermediate Orchestra will be sent out in the Fall of 2020.Candis Pohl is a product of the New York City Public School system and was inspired by her teachers to become a music educator. Level 6 Solos will receive the same consideration as a Level 5. Students can choose to audition on a Level 6 Solo.
Students currently enrolled in Grade 7 and 8, who wish to be considered for Intermediate All-County Orchestra in the Spring of 2021, should perform a solo from the current NYSSMA Manual 32, on Level 4 or 5 at the NYSSMA Solo Festival Spring 2020. Intermediate All-County Orchestra 2021 (Grade 8 and 9 in the Fall of 2020) Letters of acceptance will be sent out in the Fall of 2020.

Junior All -County Orchestra 2021 (Grade 6 and 7 in the Fall of 2020) It has no effect on Elementary All-County Orchestra. Students may choose to go to NYSSMA in the Spring of 2020 to get a rating. Teachers will select the audition piece for their students. Each instrument will be assigned a Level in the NYSSMA Manual. We will be using pieces from the NYSSMA Manual Edition 32. A new list for the audition will be published in the Spring WCSMA Newsletter. The date and location will be determined. There will be a separate audition for the Elementary All-County Orchestra in the Fall of 2020.
